Flight Forward, the United Parcel Services (UPS) drone program, flew the first prescription medication drone delivery to a private home in a retirement center earlier this month. The flight was in Cary, North Carolina and was done with UPS teaming up with CVS pharmacy.
CVS Pharmacy president, Kevin Hourican, stated that “we see big potential in drone delivery in rural communities where life-saving medications are needed and consumers at times cannot conveniently access one of our stores”.
UPS became the first company to receive authorization from the FAA to get payments for drone deliveries.
